Random comments about my day….

Walking to work this morning I saw a young man jogging. Nothing unusual, right? He had on the latest Nike perspiration absorbent running gear. He was a tall man, about 30 years old with dirty blond hair, tall in stature, fit and trim. In his ears were the unquestionable white headphones belonging to an iPod of some sort. Here’s where I flip the script… HE WAS RUNNING BAREFOOT!

ShoesDevil-150x150Now, if you’ve read any of my previous posts about the dog poop line streets of Baltimore you would know why I am completely disgusted by this concept. What the heck is wrong with him? I posed the question to one of my co-workers who lives in Baltimore and is an avid runner. I’m told this is “the new thing”… to run with no shoes… getting back to nature and “the way we use to live”. Oh, really? Did our ancestors also have high tech jogging outfits? Did they enjoy listening to an iPod Nano while they walked across the plains of America? Sorry, I think that’s just nasty and bananas! Not as if anyone asked me…

Now, as I commute home I’m on the train back to DC. Why is this woman, dressed in her hospital greens, sitting across the isle from me carrying on a LOUD conversation with her friend who is sitting behind her? Uh, is it too much to sit NEXT to each other and use you “inside voice”. If THAT is not bad enough I have to hear how swamped she was at the hospital and how/when she finds her time to sleep at work.

Please never let me have to be admitted to the hospital… and if I do have to go… let it not be in Baltimore… but if it does have to be in Baltimore… I pray it is NOT on this woman’s shift.

Just the day in the life of the colorful people I run across (pun intended) on my commute.

UPDATE!!!!  Had to investigate this running barefoot thing.  Found lots of info but this website tops them all… running bare foot… WTH?  http://runningbarefoot.org
