About Me…

I’m a Social Media Specialist who helps corporations and individuals with their on-line brand marketing.  I could do my job remotely from anyway in the world, however, I have a great opportunity to work on a contract with a company in Maryland.  So, I commuting daily back and forth from DC to Baltimore.  I love my job and the people that I work with but my commute… which is made up of a 15 minute bike ride, a 50 minute train ride, and a 25 minute walk… is no joke.

In the past I’ve driven to and from Maryland.  But I’ll pass on the 70 minute drive and the road rage on I50, 495 and I95.  I could take the subway to the train station and during  inclement I often take the bus to work.  However, the less people I come in contact with early in the morning the better it is for everyone involved!  Either way, it’s a long commute.  This blog is dedicated to the interesting, sad, funny, crazy things I see to and from work and all the things that make my commute easier, when the glass is half full, and harder when it’s half empty.  I hope you enjoy the ride with me (pun intended)!

Feel free to leave a comment… I’m sure I’m not the only person out there with interesting commuting stories!!!

COMMUTE!!! Wow! I feel you though. I experienced such a thrilling day to day commute once upon a time. However, before I get into that….I must say YOU REALLY LOVE YOUR JOB! That’s a good thing. Take the best out of it. Love at it as u get exercise (with the bike) and the train ride is great sleep/people watching! And that walk is a great way to take a deep breath and prepare for your day! As crazy and stress, loooooong it may be….embrace it and realize that you’ve been given the opportunity to work with a company u actually like. Great thing that love is there! =)
Sooooo.. I lived in JAPAN. Train, subway, bikes…walking was my form of transportation. Keep in mind…every corner there’s a rice farm…..that is about 5 feet deep from the road. ( This is the City of Yokkaichi in which I Lived) welp, I mostly biked to my job ( I was an English teacher) and I often got hit by cars. Let’s count sahll we….yup a total of 10 times I was hit by a car…my rear tire…since the streets are narrow….and the clearest day of them all…..RAINING, with my panch, my materials in my lil bacet in the front…on a narrow road….cars in a rush….ohhh again I’m wet, b/c of that rain….
Soooooo….BAM…passing a muddy…fresh developing rice farm….I fall 5 feet…in the mud…wet, bike too…materials yes of course…I’m done. I ended up still going to teach as my students thought my story was hilarious and actually that story was…..made my day…and realized that playing in the mud at too bad every now and then. HAAAAAAAAAA! So, I feel ur loooooong commute. =)

OK Lisa, you got me… I will no longer call my commute long! I will enjoy the ride (literally and figuratively) and be grateful I have to working legs to make the commute! Oh, and the fact that I’ve lost ten pounds since starting my job doesn’t hurt ;-)

EXACTLY!!! As a personal trainer I encourage my clients to take the stairs, walk to work, bike, etc. If possible! We’ve been blessed with two legs and heralthy feet! Taking it back to the days when ‘they’ walked miles and that was barefoot! =) have a great day girl!

I’ll begin commuting from Halethorpe to Union Station come August 30th. Only on Tuesday and Thursday….Thank God. But I have a feeling that everything that can go wrong, will but only on Tuesday and Thursday :) Your posts crack me up. I haven’t been a regular Marc commuter since 1999, so I guess I’m in for a rude awakening. Apparently, from what I’m reading online, it is really the pits. I honestly can’t remember delays or broken down anything when I used to commute from Dorsey (near Columbia) to Union Station. Times they have changed. Nor do I remember loud or obnoxious people. Times they have changed.
